We are looking for an exceptionally talented JAPAC Regional Director of Global Security to lead and drive change within our global team relating to the safety and security of our company. This position will report to the Vice President, Global Security and Chief Security Officer and will work in partnership with various Amgen business partners from HR, Facilities, IS, LAW, Compliance, as well as others. Responsibilities:
• Lead team of Global Security professionals.
• Proactively lead operational security and safety measures concerning Amgen and our staff members.
• Work closely with Site Leadership, Facilities, IS, HR, LAW, and others to drive the security operational and technical due diligence process.
• Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans for major capital projects.
• Partner effectively with key groups such as Site Leadership, IS, Facilities, GSS, Finance, LAW, HR, and others. Maintain regular communications with a variety of stakeholders, to ensure all concerned parties are well informed.
• Drive both cost and operational efficiency through the program as it scales, while also continuously innovating.
• Refine and implement an incident response program aligned with key stakeholders.
• Lead, elevate, and accelerate the regional security operations.
• Liaison with local, county, and federal law enforcement for incident responses, investigative support, and best practices.
• Refine executive protection and executive services guidelines in support of business objectives.
• Ensure timely and accurate communications with VP/CSO and those affected by incidents.
• Develop security construction standards and confirm the accuracy of site drawings and security designs depicting recommended hardware and security controls for regional offices.
• Manage regional third-party security officers, provisions, and oversee any third-party vendors providing staffing in collaboration with regional site leadership.
• Lead protection services supporting executives, special event, or travel-related security needs, utilizing third-party consultants or vendors where/when needed.
• Responsible for iterating on Amgen’s incident management protocols and business continuity planning. Primary owner as needed during an incident or event.
• Provide travel guidance, intelligence, and communication to staff members affected.
• Design and implement a loss prevention program supporting the protection of physical assets and other materials.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to expand security protocols and procedures.
• Educate staff members on physical security policy and standard methodologies.
• Oversee the regional budget and expenditures of the program.
• Analyze data, lead management reporting, and develop a strategy for the global security programs.
• Manage cross-functional, regional relationships, and projects to ensure policy, process, and systems are aligned to meet the needs of the programs.
• Execute strategic and tactical missions in response to security threats and emergencies within legal frameworks.
• Cultivate and build relationships with law enforcement, regulatory, and other relevant agencies in the region to help identify risks/threats proactively.
• Partner with host country law enforcement on criminal investigations.
• Establish and oversee policies, programs, and organizations to mitigate and reduce Amgen’s strategic, operational, personnel, regulatory, compliance, intellectual property, cyber and financial security risks in JAPAC.
• Identify, assess, and monitor all security risks to ensure the safety and security of Amgen employees, proprietary information, and facilities in JAPAC.
• Promote and instill the importance of physical and cyber security within Amgen offices/personnel/practices by providing training and tools. Support the Insider Threat Program.
• Gather and verify threat intelligence. Broaden and strengthen Amgen’s business and strategic relationships in JAPAC countries/region.
• Provide expert advice and logistics support for Amgen Executives who travel throughout JAPAC.
• Experience in working with high-level government and private sectors within the JAPAC region.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Minimum 15 years of experience working in the corporate, law enforcement, and/or U.S. government security function required
• JAPAC working experience required
• Prior full-time federal, state, or local law enforcement experience required
• Extensive national and international law enforcement relationships required
• Executive protection program management experience required
• Experience with multiple access control systems
• 3rd party vendor management experience required
• Must have strong management and leadership skills and experience with overseeing relationships with cross-functional teams
• Excellent technical, interpersonal, and analytical skills required
• Excellent written and oral communications skills required
• Strong computer and systems knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with contract negotiations
