Siemens Mobility Limited are recruiting for a Regional Construction Manager for the Rail Infrastructure business. This role is responsible for the management of all Construction services nationally and the management and co-ordination of all site activity. What are my responsibilities? Effective Leadership and development of the Regional Construction team to ensure it has the required resources, skills and attitudes to deliver a first class Construction service Excellent Safety culture maintained across group Develop and implement strategies to drive and embed a Construction service focused on cost, quality and timely delivery Develop and maintain strong working relationship with internal and external customers, including the national Civils Manager, Project Delivery Director, Client Engineering Partner, external Client and 3rd party contractors All construction safety competencies upheld for internal and third party workers. Standardisation of site installation and construction techniques to ensure industry best practice is established and maintained for internal, third party workers and subcontractors. Identify Continuous improvement opportunities and implement and manage the changes Ensure all reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner Agree and maintain procedural work templates Educational Requirements IOSH or CITB site management training Knowledge & Experience: Construction and/or testing background Substantial experience of managing and developing large groups of people Excellent communication skills at all levels of department and other disciplines also customer and suppliers Must be willing to travel and lodge nationally Leading and managing change Desirable Corporate Membership of the IRSE or industry related body HNC or degree Project Management or construction management experience Substantial Railway signalling or construction experience Specific Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities for this Post: Follow the good examples set by the Project Manager in creating a robust H&S culture within the project Set an example by their own actions and activities Set targets and objectives for H&S and environmental for their direct staff, use the staff dialogues process for managing H&S and environmental objectives Ensure that directed staff are capable and competent to undertake the tasks allocated to them Ensure effective implementation of the Siemens Project Health & Safety Plan, Project Quality Plan and Project Environmental Plan on projects responsible for and in compliance with PCL requirements Responsibility for undertaking the role of Responsible Manager for RIPs activities where the Project Manager requires. This includes ensuring the RIPs plans are suitable for the work, nominating competent safety critical personal to safely execute the works, monitoring the requirements of the RIPs plans and undertaking verification checks on plans to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Communicate and encourage feedback on H &S and environmental issues Undertake appropriate disciplinary action for any breach of H&S Investigate accidents or incidents to determine basic causes, feedback information both up and down the organisation Ensure adequate H&S equipment is to hand and is used by employees Undertake H&S tours or inspections; take action where deficiencies are observed When unable to rectify or remedy unsafe situations either stop work if the risk is too high and/or report the deficiency (and involve HSQE) to the Project Manager for action Promote and use the business procedures to control and manage work Understand the H & S and environment risks involved in any activity they control and ensure any mitigation designated to control that risk are effectively operated/implemented Be prepared and be competent to manage any for-seen emergency situations Become involved in any worksafe problem and help resolve that problem Maintain their competence to manage their own H&S and environmental responsibilities and contribute to their directs competence to manage their H&S and environmental responsibilities About us We’re Siemens.
