Job Purpose/Overview
The Reliability Controls Technician’s (RCT) primary responsibility is the day to day support of site instrumentation & electrical equipment along with factory controls systems. Additionally, they will help support the strategy for any electrical asset health check programs. This role provides 8:00pm – 4:30am shift coverage, Monday thru Friday and participates in on-call rotation with Site Automation Engineer. This role reports directly to the Reliability Technician Leader (RTL) while working alongside Site Automation Engineer (SAE).

 

Key Responsibilities 
•    Practice safety and support site wide safety awareness
•    Assist with completion of team workload as needed
•    Ensure information is entered in the CMMS to track utilization
•    Coordinate and prioritize assigned daily workload
•    Ensure major issues are recorded and communicated
•    Ensure issues and temporary repairs are escalated
•    Support team with positive motivation and team engagement.
•    Give feedback to RTL and SAE regarding scheduled work to ensure work is completed accurately and completely.
•    Ensure storeroom processes are followed correctly to ensure inventory is accurate
•    Recognize current phase of lifecycle for each Infrastructure Solution and Service and prepare appropriate action plan.

 

Context and Scope

The RCT will undergo a significant amount of training and shadowing of the site Automation Engineer for up to 1 year. RCT executes the modification and installation of control systems utilizing the change control process for assigned areas, transfers knowledge of control systems and electrical projects, supports and maintains controls networks for assigned areas, web servers, data historian and operator interface systems.

 

Responsibilities include supporting SAE with projects and tasks while also providing Reliability Technician assistance. Key concepts of the role include troubleshooting electrical and controls related to PLC ladder logic and networks, creating and/or completing electrical related PMs. Should have knowledge of RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000, Factory Talk site edition, and RS View 32. Must understand factory network communications which consist of Ethernet IP, ControlNet, and Profinet.

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications
Education & Professional Qualifications    Minimum Qualifications

•    2 - 3 years instrumentation & electrical, electronics, or factory controls & controls network experience including production systems troubleshooting and problem resolution.
•    Must be qualified electrical worker (must be able to work independently on live electrical panels).
•    Must understand 480VAC three phase power distribution systems and controls.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Two-year technical degree (Electrical, Electronic, Controls, or Automation)
•    3 - 4 years instrumentation & electrical, electronics, or factory controls & network experience. Including production system troubleshooting and problem resolution.
•    Server administration, virtual infrastructure administration, & database administration knowledge.
•    Cisco and Rockwell equipment architecture knowledge.


Knowledge / Experience

•    Supports all topics related to electrical distribution and factory controls
•    Provides the communication and marketing of factory controls. Provides solutions and services to engineering, maintenance, and production.
•    Proficient in factory controls demonstrating clear understanding of the problems and opportunities for business change.
•    Proficient in instrumentation and electrical equipment
•    Collaborates with shift-based production and maintenance teams to understand any breakdown or reliability issues.
•    Achieves and maintains a high level of technical competency
•    Trains and supports non-technical users on the use of plant floor automation systems.
•    Functional in Microsoft Office and CMMS software
•    Utilize knowledge of Quality & Food Safety systems
•    Associate effectively employs Food Safety measures
