Assistant Night Manager – Front Office (Part time)

Are you someone that is awake at night when everyone else is sleeping? We are looking for a night owl who will welcome our guests during the hours of 11pm – 7:30am. Minimum shift requirement is 2 shifts per week, Friday/Saturday nights or Sunday/Monday Nights. You will be onsite at the hotel and responsible for the smooth running of the hotel during the overnight hours. 

Potential for additional Reception shifts from 3:00pm – 11:30pm or additional Night Audit shifts during the week if interested.

What you will be doing:

As the Assistant Night Manager- Front Office, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Based in Front Office, manage the daily running of the hotel on the overnight shift from 11:00pm – 7:30am including check in and check out of guests, bar and coffee service and reconciliation of the hotel income for the day.  
  • Independently manage the overnight operations of the hotel.   Attend to and manage the hotel in the event of an emergency and ensure guest safety.
  • Manage the night audit processes including conducting audits on daily processing, correctly posting all hotel revenue for the day and identifying discrepancies and correcting.  Handle guest complaints proactively
  • Provide a warm welcome for arriving guests and smooth departure.
  • Prepare breakfast trays and deliver room service. Prepare coffees for guests and morning grab and go breakfast service.
  • Train new starters in Night Audit procedures as required.

About You

  • Ability to work night shifts (11:00pm-7:30am) either Friday/Saturday nights or Sunday/Monday nights. Must be able to work public holidays as required.
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role in a customer service industry. Hotel experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours during a shift as you will be working from the Reception desk and be comfortable working during the overnight independently.
  • Keen eye for detail and numbers and proficient using Microsoft Excel.
  • A fast thinker and problem-solver with the ability to think outside of the box to deliver solutions for guests.
  • Good time-management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with cash handling and cashiering essential
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Opera experience would be preferred.
  • Be prepared to obtain an RSA Certificate and First Aid Certificate prior to commencement.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 COVID-19 vaccinations and be scheduled for the 3rd vaccination. Be prepared to maintain vaccination status in line with NSW Health guidelines.
