Remote Writing Expert (Television Script Supervisor/Editor)

Job Description
We are recruiting now for a new team of experienced English Scriptwriters and English Copy Editors to work on a range of new and ongoing China-focused, English-language television productions. Uniquely working from the convenience of your current geographic location, regular writing projects, including project briefings and relevant reference documents will be made available to you via your allocated private administrative account login on our international content management workflow portal.
About the Role
Ultimately reporting to the Project Manager, and liaising on a regular basis with the local production research team, you will be responsible for successfully completing a wide variety of writing tasks with the main goal of improving the overall quality and relevance to international audiences of Features and News content of varying lengths, emphases and genres.
All content you will work on is geared for international broadcast on a day-to-day basis, whether via cable, satellite, On Demand, or live streaming via handheld devices.
The typical workflow shall be:
Log in to the portal on a regular basis to select from a wide-range of project briefs and to check for messages and project updates
Review project brief, deadlines, and liaising with production researchers whenever required
Receive project documents including relevant text, image, audio and/or video files
oProject tasks may include any of the following: Writing an English-language text story, a script from scratch, or polishing/proofreading a piece of text
oWriting will take into account the project brief which will detail the genre, style, video content duration, format etc.
Submit written pieces for review by Project Manager and editorial approval.
Further editing may be required until Project Task is completed.
Example projects:
Writing a story for a feature program package
Writing an original script for a multi-episode natural health TV series
Polishing a script for a travel show
Writing articles for a weekly magazine news show
Writing text stories for our multimedia web portal
Proofreading subtitles for a reality TV series
Payment
Each Project Task shall be assigned a USD earning value. All monies earned shall be accrued monthly and paid (wired) on a monthly basis in your preferred currency.
Qualifications
For this role, you must have experience working within a busy television media, magazine or newspaper newsroom or bureau, or you will have previous scriptwriting or authoring experience, writing within a production and/or publishing cycle.
Your ability and experience to work unaided, to self-critique your work, and to make editorial decisions in a meticulous, deadline-sensitive environment without direct supervision will be of high value to this role.
Attention to detail, a strict sense of time management and organisational skills are essential to the ability to successfully work in this role.
You will be expected to have a strong interest in China with an emphasis on one or more of the following areas: business, culture, health/lifestyles, tourism, and technology.
