Job Description

ACADEMY OF VISUAL ARTS

The Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) is looking for a Research Assistant Professor to extend research in curatorial practice. The appointee will conduct independent research and put his/her research into practice. He/she will have access to the facilities and resources as well as the broader and expanding research platform at AVA and the University, including a specialised gallery and a variety of physical spaces in which to test work. The successful applicant will work alongside staff in the Academy and take an active part in organising curatorial projects and coordinating associated programmes (workshops, guest lectures, conferences, exhibitions, screenings, etc.). He/she will also work in connection with AVA’s academic programmes at different levels as well as our international Artist-in-Residence Programme.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, and a keen interest in curatorial practice and research demonstrated by his/her professional experience. Those without a doctoral degree but with a strong academic background will also be considered. Records of successful grant applications or project funding will be a definite advantage.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review and mutual agreement.  

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
