Description of the Duties of the Position
The current research of Assistant Professor Sijie Chen (https://ki.se/en/research/sijie-chen) aims at developing novel fluorescence-based tools and technology for biological research.
A research assistant position is immediately available. Under the supervision of a postdoctoral fellow, the Research Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks which include preparing resources, equipment, materials for research projects, conducting experiments, documenting and analyzing experiment results, in support of research activities. The research assistant should be able to work independently and collaboratively in the group.
The research project will provide the opportunity for the Research Assistant to learn proper research procedures and techniques, which may include but not limited to stem cell culture, cell imaging using confocal microscope or super-resolution microscope, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Qualifications / Requirements
The application is open to highly motivated scientists with a strong background in experimental life science or bioengineering / biomedical engineering. Experience in bacteria culture, mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, plate reader, flow cytometry, basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques is desirable.
Candidates should have obtained a bachelor degree or higher from a recognized institution in related disciplines.
Excellent ability to communicate in English (spoken and written) is a must.
The Employment
This is a 12 months’ full-time fixed-term employment, with the possibility of renewal.
This assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.
A competitive remuneration package including 10% on top of basic salary (fully-taxable) intended as pension will be offered in addition to MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits.
