Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research Chemist, are to: 

 

  • Be a primary liaison to IT teams to develop, maintain and improve digital systems for process Research and Development (R&D) work;
  • Support development of digital strategy by identifying opportunities and implementing new digital tools;
  • Ensure colleagues in AIMI-NA are trained and supported with respect to data management and other digital applications;
  • Support development of new chemical processes and new technologies within existing processes to drive business improvements in yield, quality, cost, IP, sustainability and safety;
  • Execute research and development projects related to commercial AI production;
  • Transfer results to manufacturing sites for plant scale studies and supports final implementation and maintenance;
  • Work closely with Global Engineering and production teams to ensure the safe and effective operation of chemical production facilities;
  • Collaborate with multiple world-wide business and process optimization teams to maximize process improvement and new technology implementation;
  • Drive cooperation with other functions inside and outside of research and assure appropriate management of IP and documentation.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related and at least seven years of relevant experience or Ph.D. and at least three years of relevant experience;
  • Chemistry and engineering knowledge with focus on reaction mechanisms, kinetics, analytical data and process research including state-of-the-art technologies;
  • Research experiences in both laboratory and manufacturing plant environments;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Understanding of digital data management systems and IT application development processes;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team or lead through influence.
