Job Description
Role Summary:
The Research Director, China is responsible for defining strategy and overseeing the execution of academic research partnerships in the China. This individual is responsible for providing the interface between business segment and region leaders and strategic collaborative academic partners to establish comprehensive research programs with key opinion leaders.
Essential Responsibilities:
Critical responsibilities include profiling and introducing new strategic research partnerships, defining and governing collaborations ensure that site and investigator-specific research needs are met, conducted in a timely and satisfactory manner to provide high-impact research deliverable to the business. This role shall manage, develop, and deploy the regional research managers as well as assist the Clinical Operations Research Team to complete NMPA product registration activities. It is expected that the successful candidate will work commercial counterparts to strategically manage the GE HC academic research footprint in the China. This role shall not have any direct sales or marketing responsibilities.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Grow academic mind-share and market share in the China region by engaging with academic partners well-suited for GE partnership, by establishing and understanding of the collaborator’s strengths and collaboration interests and recognizing how this strengths and interests are in alignment with the strategic needs of GEHC. Specific duties to accomplish this comprehensive task include
In accordance with the Research Operational Directive, ensure commercial team is kept informed of site research activity, through communications, operations methods , or appropriate methods.
Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Technical, Business or clinical degree with 7 years industry experience in Product Development, Field Services, Operations or related area. Equivalent customer-facing leadership experience may be appropriate.
2. Clinical Domain expertise in Radiology and Imaging Healthcare trends, globally and Regionally.
3. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and across professional and executive levels of an organization; ability to influence and coordinate resources in support of program objectives
4. Solid understanding of the GE Healthcare organization, including experience in imaging, diagnostics and software-related areas, or other similar diagnostic medical device business.
5. Project management experience within an engineering or research environment; demonstrated execution at meeting project goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and budget CTQ’s
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Demonstrated excellence in customer support, responsiveness and engagement
8. Collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally in a matrix environment and in a remote office.
9. Demonstrated clear thinking & problem solving abilities: successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations function involving process improvement; able to quickly grasp new ideas
Desired Characteristics:
1. Deep imaging clinical and product expertise
2. Advanced technical degree (M.S., Ph.D., M.D.) or business degree (MBA)
3. Experience working in multiple disciplines or businesses in GEHC.
4. More than 10 years accumulated experience in product development, R&D role or a clinical research role in GEHC.
5. Familiarity with regulatory standards and prevailing laws governing research activities with healthcare providers, specifically in China.

- Establish a strategic plan to increase academic market share in the China region.
- Manage the members of the China Research Team in alignment with Modality Business needs and Strategic commercial needs towards execution of the strategic growth plan
- Establish governance and operating mechanisms with modalities and researchers to resolve issues, track achievements and deliverable impact.
- Provide guidance and leadership in developing cross-modality research projects and activities.
- Provide leadership and oversight in tender responses, ensuring research appropriateness and compliance.
