The Research Administration Office (RAO) located within the Center of Academic Affairs (CAA) of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, is responsible for providing support to academic departments and research institutes on matters related to research administration. This includes oversight of XJTLU’s grants and contracts portfolio, research collaborations and partnerships, research governance, research-related policies and procedures, pre-award research support, research systems and information, and finance related to research activity.
As research activity within the University is increasing quickly, the Research Administration Office is looking to establish a new team, which will be focusing on managing and promoting research-related data and information. The main functions of this team will be to:
(1) answer to new national regulations on research data
(2) develop the research management system
(3) enhance internal and external research communication
(4) provide statistical report to various governmental institutions upon request
The new Research Information Team sits in the Research Administration Office, which already comprises the Research Support Team and the Research Engagement Team. The role holder will be reporting to the Team Leader of the Research Information Team. The responsibility of the role holder will be focusing on the development and the operation of Research Information Management System for XJTLU and enhancing the research-related communications internally and externally.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Research Information Officer are:
- To conduct communication of the vendor for Research Information Management System (RIMS)
- To collect information on the requirements and workflows of relevant departments and offices. Discuss with the system vendor and confirm the final system requirements
- To coordinate, test and trace the system development progress with the RIMS vendor
- To organize users’ training of RIMS including for all XJTLU admin and academic staff.
- To Manage Research Professional system and provide related support to staff in XJTLU.
- To edit and publish the monthly electronic Research Bulletin which targets XJTLU academic staff and aims at enhancing the internal research-related information dissemination
- To edit and publish the electronic and hardcopy of the Research Newsletter which targets local government and industry and aims at promoting recent XJTLU research activities and research outcomes
- To operate the official wechat account “Voice of Research” which aims at providing efficient daily communication with XJTLU student and staff, as well as the public who are interested in research activities at XJTLU
- To identify significant research achievements, “star“ researchers and research team in XJTLU and work with University Marketing and Communication Office to promote successful research stories to the public which could also improve the research profile of XJTLU
- To support the promotion of seminars, workshops and academic conferences held in XJTLU
- To assist the visualization of XJTLU research statistics and research outcomes which could also help the demonstration of research outcomes internally and externally by using data analysis software
- To work with University Marketing and Communication Office to design and improve research-related webpages
- To produce accurate research-related statistics reports required by various government institutions for various purposes
- To undertake other tasks and duties as assigned by the Team Leader of the Research Information Team
Qualifications and skills
Successful candidates will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree or above is required;
- Knowledge and experience of development information system or operating social media is preferred
- Experience working in a higher education environment and international environment is preferred
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent presentation skills, and skillful in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Attention to details; highly organized; patient and capable of follow-through
- Good team work spirit and problem solving capabilities
