Description of the Duties of the Position
The Sijie Chen group (https://ki.se/en/research/sijie-chen) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Officer with good team spirit and good communication skills to help coordinate and enable new research activities.
As a Research Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating research activities in the group including but not limited to the following duties:
- Design and carry out research projects
- Develop and coordinate routine lab procedures
- Assist in research grant applications including preparing research ethics applications and biochemical and biological safety statement, contributing preliminary data, drafting experiment methods and project reports, and other related tasks
- Supervise junior laboratory staff, assist in data analysis and manuscript preparation
Qualifications / Requirements
The successful applicant will have at least a PhD (or equivalent) degree with documented scientific publications in Biology/Chemistry, basic knowledge in fluorescence and competence in data collection and analysis. Experience in one or more of the following areas is required:
- Molecular and cell biological techniques experiments
- Cell culture, especially stem cell culture
- Cell staining, (live) cell imaging and FACS
- Bio-application of fluorescent probes
- Chemical synthesis, especially design and synthesis of fluorescent probes
- UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, FLIM, super-resolution microscope, etc.
- Bioconjugation, FPLC/HPLC
Solid relevant work experience in managing research activities/laboratory, and writing applications for different approvals is a merit.
Excellent ability to communicate in English (spoken and written) is a must.
The Employment
This is an 18 months’ full-time employment, with the possibility of renewal.
This assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.
A competitive remuneration package including 10% on top of basic salary (fully-taxable) intended as pension will be offered in addition to MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits.
