Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of the Lab Process Excellence (LPE) team within the Therapeutic Discovery department contributing as a Continuous Improvement Project Manager.

  • Responsible for supporting cross-functional teams in project and relationship management, applying Lean principles and problem-solving skills to identify, track and execute process improvements for a variety of projects involving Research, third party service providers / partners
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross functional teams, service providers and other Amgen partners to identify and implement process improvements to enable efficient lab operations and sustainable business performance
  • Knowledge of Lean philosophy and principles, continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies, and change management
  • Manage projects within established scope, schedule, and budget, aligning project tactics with project strategy
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and motivate project partners to gain alignment on project goals and deliverables
  • Partner with functional SMEs and key stakeholders to define key milestones, project deliverables and timeline, identify and manage risks, ensure cross functional alignment and accountability from project initiation through completion
  • Establish and manage fit for purpose project tracking and reporting mechanisms (SharePoint, Smartsheet dashboards and project management tools, etc.)
  • Facilitate effective project meetings, manage change and conflict in a matrix environment
  • Prepare and present key project information including proposals for decision, accomplishments and next steps for project teams and senior leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3-year experience in the biotechnology-pharmaceutical industry OR
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5-year experience in the biotechnology-pharmaceutical industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a scientific discipline and 3+ years research experience in the biotechnology-pharmaceutical industry
  • Formal project management training (e.g. PMP) and experience applying Lean philosophy and principles
  • Demonstrated experience supporting vendor partnership activities
  • Strong competencies in planning, project management, and organization with the ability to lead multiple activities and resources while maintaining a focus on quality
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences
  • Proven ability to grasp general knowledge of multiple disciplines
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively (verbal and written) with various stakeholders
  • Experience with or willingness to learn SharePoint, Smartsheet, and other software tools
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, skills and knowledge to solve problems/issues
  • Self-directed, flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, and resourceful
