Job Description

MSRA/IEG (Innovation Engineering Group) is responsible for “turning ideas into reality”.   We collaborate with researchers and product groups to transfer technologies into products, and create new user scenarios, demos, or release prototypes directly to the market.   We have a 30+ team with diversified skill sets and culture background.   (more info please see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/group/innovation-engineering/ ).

Our goal is to quickly turn research ideas into prototypes, components of products, deploy our experiments into real world to collect feedback, and innovate not only in technology aspect, but also in user scenario and human computer interface.

We are looking for motivated engineers with a strong track record who like to work with innovative and revolutionary technologies, and want a chance to contribute to potential new products from Microsoft.   You have a chance to drive an idea from inception to demo, and final productization. Your work will have good visibility in demos (e.g. TechFest), MSR releases and final products.

Responsibilities

Work with researchers in various research groups to build solutions for challenging problems, in the form of prototypes, demos and real-world applications. Work within a team or independently to understand the cutting-edge research and technology issues, work with interns and vendors toward a common goal. Be able to step up to some project management tasks.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of software engineering experience building scalable applications /web services
  • 2+ years of experience developing software in C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or C/C++
  • Good debugging, testing, and problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with AI or deep learning technologies and related frameworks a plus
  • Experience with web and cloud technologies like Azure, Kubernetes, docker a plus
  • Research experience with paper published in top conferences and/or journals a plus
