Syngenta Beijing Innovation center, the center of excellence for genome editing is seeking for a highly responsible and self-motivated talent to join the Trait Evaluation Group. As a Research Scientist, this person will play a key role in initiating and delivering research projects in greenhouse (GH).

Responsibilities:

• Proactively engage in cross-functional interaction and project management to ensure critical objectives and milestones are timely delivered
• Conduct greenhouse activities to deliver high quality plant materials and phenotyping data packages; independently develop and implement fit-for-purpose greenhouse assays to evaluate trait efficacy for different projects
• Propose new ideas, initiate and manage projects to address business needs
• Innovatively develop and optimize processes of plant cultivation and trait phenotyping to ensure the timely delivery of new genome editing projects
• Monitor and improve GH environmental performance; Identify facility improvement and GH upgrade opportunities based on plant-environment interaction and novel GH technologies
• Work cross-function to ensure the pipeline objectives are met

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

• Master/Ph.D degree in plant biology/physiology, crop breeding, plant pathology, or related with over 3 years’ experience in agricultural industry is preferred
• Experienced in plant cultivation, phenotyping and GH operation is desirable
• Good knowledge/experience on agricultural biotechnology (such as genome editing, GM)
• Good analytical and trouble shooting skills
• Experience in project management and national funding application is preferred
