Job Description

Albemarle Corporation is currently seeking a Senior Technology Program Director to work within the Research and Technology Group of the Bromine Global Business Unit.  This is a high impact and high visibility position directly aligned with our GBU growth strategy,  The Program Director will lead one or more large product & process technology programs supporting new product introduction and transformational improvements to processes for manufacture of existing products.  The position can be based at our global process development center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or at our Magnolia, Arkansas manufacturing facility and will report to the Vice President of Bromine Research and Technology.

Basic Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline with 12+ years of industry experience including at least two of the following: (a) significant process development and scale up experience; (b) in plant manufacturing support involving significant troubleshooting of process and equipment issues; (c) process design; (d) project engineering; (e) significant commissioning and startup experience
• Strong grounding in chemical engineering fundamentals
• Multiple experiences solving a diverse range of significant technical problems by applying fundamental principles of the physical sciences (chemical engineering, chemistry, physics,  materials science, etc).
• Demonstrated success organizing and leading large cross functional teams in the execution of significant technical programs or projects
• Strong communication skills with all levels and functions within the organization
• Ability to frame complex subject matter concisely for different audiences
• Ability to develop initial project evaluation and economics
• Desire to build  knowledge and skills in other team members across the GBU.
• Willingness to accommodate periodic travel to the other Albemarle US and international sites.

Desired Requirements

• Ability and desire to take on larger leadership roles in the organization in time
• Demonstrated success in new product and applications development.
• Experience with new manufacturing processes from development through commercial commissioning and startup.
• Advanced degree in chemical engineering or related discipline.    A degree in or significant experience in chemistry would be an added benefit
• Experience working with environmental and safety permitting and regulations
• Experience with process modelling
• Established industry technical contacts
