Job
The appointee will be responsible for the following main duties:

1. Ensure that the Geotechnical Engineering Works is carried out in accordance with the design assumptions, specifications, contract requirements, and good engineering practice, and achieve at least the minimum standard of site supervision normally required of a resident geotechnical engineer.
2. Assist “The Architect” in the contract administration with respect to Geotechnical Engineering Works.
3. Monitor the performance of contractors and sub-contractors.
4. Attend site and co-ordination meetings.
5. Inspect and witness site tests.
6. Perform any other duties as required to facilitate implementation of capital works projects of the department including site supervision of construction works.
   
   

Requirements

1. Registered Professional Engineer (Geotechnical) or equivalent as recognized by the Geotechnical Engineering Office of Civil Engineering and Development Department.
   
   

Preferred Attributes/Exposure

1. Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in the field of geotechnical engineering works and of which 2 years are related to construction.
2. Considerable experience in handling major capital works projects.
3. Conversant with Hong Kong construction and building related legislations and government procedures and policies on delivering public projects.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Chinese, with good presentation skills.
5. A high degree of self-motivation and strong organizational ability.
6. Knowledge of MS Office, project management and database software.
   
   

Remarks

1. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
2. Selected candidates will be subject to posting to various clusters in HA and/or HA Head Office and/or project sites, in shifts and/or irregular hours, as services/operations required.

4. Appointment will be on contract terms for a period up to 31 March 2023. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
5. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
