Job Description

Office: Capital Planning Department, Strategy & Planning Division, HA Head Office 

Pay

HK$31,055 to HK$35,985 per month (including Monthly Allowance)

Job 

The appointee will assist the Senior Managers, Managers, Employer’s Representatives and the Consultant Team in the project management of major capital works projects with technical advisory support. The appointee will be responsible for the following main duties:

  1. Responsible on site to and under the supervision of the Clerk of Works who shall assign his duties on a day-to-day basis and follow established procedures.
  2. Assist in the supervision of contract works including checking of setting out, leveling, cuttings, footings and excavations by contractors.
  3. Assist in the supervision of mixing, placing and curing of concrete.
  4. Assist in the supervision of the making of concrete cubes and the cutting of steel bars by the contractors for subsequent testing.
  5. Assist in the recording of labour, materials and plant delivered to site for compilation of site records by the Clerk of Works.
  6. Escort the delivery of concrete cubes and other building materials to laboratories for testing as instructed.
  7. Keep approval samples in lockable storage and check against the materials delivered to site.
  8. Witness all sites tests and attend site audits as required.
  9. Work according to duty roster, attend emergency call and perform typhoon duty.
  10. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Requirements

  1. Ordinary Certificate in Building Studies from the Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent.
  2. At least 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  3. a. Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE OR
    b. Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE, or equivalent.
  4. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card). 

 

Preferred Attributes/Exposure

  1. Knowledge of other common office automation (e.g. e-mail, Internet / Intranet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, AutoCAD and other MS Office applications, etc.)
  2. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  3. Responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
  4. Outgoing and able to work under pressure and stressful situation, including crises.
  5. Formal training in occupational safety and health. 

 

Remarks

  1. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
  2. Selected candidates may be required to work in shifts and/or irregular hours in different offices and/or project sites, depending on services / operational needs.
  3. Appointment will be on contract terms for a period of 2 to 3 years. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
  4. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
