Job Description Summary

The NASSC-Revenue Recognition team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Revenue within BD. The team is focused on Revenue Recognition guidance ASC 606 to ensure accurate and timely financials. This position is responsible for ensuring sales, standard cost, rebate and accrual transactions are recorded in line with Company policy and GAAP. This role will also assist with the SOX controls and participate in month end closing tasks as well as cross functional projects. The position will also work to improve efficiency and accuracy in all tasks.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Accurately perform monthly close activities including recording journal entries, reconciling complex accounts, producing supporting schedules, and other monthly end tasks as assigned
• Support the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and financial reporting requirements
• Attention to detail and collaboration with Business owners securing appropriate work papers/ schedules to support account reconciliations
• Working closely with teams to provide accounting guidance to ensure proper revenue accounting treatment
• Review contracts to determine proper revenue accounting treatment
• Understand the various contract obligations impacting revenue (Royalties, Distributor Incentives, Rebates, GPO Admin Fees)
• Calculate rebate reserve accruals to substantiate accurate Balance Sheet liability
• Monitor intercompany relationships and understand end-to-end process
• Develop and create process workflow and desktop procedures to support assigned tasks
• Identify process improvements to further streamline and automate revenue accounting process
• Assist with SOX framework
• Interfaces with internal and external auditors

  Required Qualifications
  

• BA/BS in accounting, finance or a related field
• Knowledge of Revenue Recognition Required
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  Preferred Qualifications
  

• SAP, BI & Qlikview experience preferred
• MBA or CPA preferred
• Public Accounting experience a plus
• Comfortable with contract review and sales obligations

  Knowledge And Skills
  

• Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition in US GAAP under ASC 606
• Attention to detail and accuracy under time constraints
• Strong communication skills  (email, small meetings, teleconferences, group presentations)
• Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently and as a team contributor
• Desire to improve upon existing processes and procedures
