The successful candidate works in a team of three Laboratory Technicians assisting our English and German International streams science teachers and 500 secondary students. With primary responsibilities for the Biology department, maintaining stock supplies, equipment and assisting teaching faculty with procedures, the Biology technician would also work with younger students taking general science courses.

DUTIES

• Maintain cleanliness and order in laboratory, and monitor the repair of lab equipment.
• Prepare materials and equipment for all Biology and some Science class experiments and demonstrations, as well as assisting faculty during lessons if required.
• Issue equipment and return it to inventory once usage is complete.
• Maintain equipment and apparatus in a clean and functioning state, conduct annual inventory and assist in capital purchases.
• Authorise service from outside vendors and purchase expendable supplies.
• Maintain and update policy manual and pertinent records including accident and waste disposal records.
• Maintain digital video resources and departmental books.
• Assist in the running of exceptional laboratory-based exercises such as practical examinations, field trips, after-school project work and open days.
• Be responsible for the welfare and care of the fish, animals and plants in the department.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum two-years experience in a secondary school
• Budget management, petty cash and ordering
• Pro-active, organised, self motived & able to work independently
• Personable and interactive with students
• Holder of a valid HK Laboratory Technician's Certificate or equivalent professional qualification
• Sound English language skills, German and / or Cantonese advantageous
