BSI Consulting is seeking a SHE Specialist out of Gaithersburg, MD to support the business with development and implementation of programs and strategies leading to a sustainable safety and health culture.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Advance initiatives which promote and sustain the safety, health, security, and welfare of all personnel.
• Facilitate behavior based safety programs.
• Manage on-time closure of SHE incidents, near misses, at-risk conditions/behaviors within the department.
• Support investigating of incidents, near misses, at-risk conditions/behaviors, etc. to aid in determination of root cause and minimize recurrence.
• Partner with stakeholders to implement corrective action/preventative action (CAPA) plans; risk assessments; safety self-assessments; and job hazard assessments.
• Provide recommendations for abatement action; and verify completion of abatement action.
• Maintain, records, reports and documents in electronic safety management system. (TrackWise software)
• Compile data for SHE performance metrics and benchmarking.
• Analyze historical incident data, leading indicators, risk assessments and in-field observations and provide recommendations based upon analysis.
• Effectively communicate, train and present recommendations at all levels of the organization.
• Support continuous improvement of the safety culture within the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Work effectively on multiple projects at once and respond to rapidly changing demands.
• Work effectively in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between SHE, Facilities, Manufacturing and R&D Laboratories.
• Manage projects and coordinate with other organizational units.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, within all levels of the organization.
• Exercise judgment while being insightful, logical and methodical.
• PowerPoint and Excel experience preferred.
