The role, Senior Factory Manager, is part of the Strategic Sourcing Group, in the Devices organization.
The scope of this position is to manage Contract Manufacturing (CM) / Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) across the company’s hardware portfolio, including design and execution of the manufacturing supply base strategy, defining business models and operational requirements, leading supplier negotiations, supplier selection and overall relationship management, and to deliver optimized cost in a very competitive and cost-pressured industry.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities.
• Develop and execute market-leading supply base strategy by leveraging market knowledge, industry-leading commodity cost management, and techniques to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Research market, competitive, and emerging trends to drive insights into contract manufacturer capabilities and strategies.
• Manage end to end contract manufacturing portfolio and performance including new product commercialization and value creation initiatives; collaborate with contract manufacturing partners to execute and improve cost, quality, supply and delivery performance.
• Develop supplier capabilities and drive technology roadmap visibility across Microsoft hardware businesses.
• Establish a comprehensive cost benchmarking program reflecting external market insights and understanding of the broader supply markets.
• Evaluate contract manufacturer capabilities and establish sources for new technologies in new markets as business requirements dictate.
• Use expertise in manufacturing, supply chain and commodity management to thoroughly analyze supplier cost structure and to deliver the most aggressive costing for services, assembly, and capital.
• Secure development and manufacturing services that provide competitive advantage to Microsoft in technology, cost and quality.
• Build alignment for organizational and behavioral changes in support of key initiatives
• Research market, competitive, and emerging trends to drive insights into contract manufacturer capabilities and strategies.

Qualifications
Qualification and Experience
• Five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering, sourcing or supply chain with demonstrated work experience in contract manufacturing, preferably in high volume consumer electronics industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Supply Chain management or related field.
• Current knowledge of industry trends and ability to foster and leverage professional relationships; has a broad understanding of hardware manufacturing industry, business and contractual intricacies.
• Expertise in market analysis to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, technology replacements/forecasts, pricing trends, etc., to formulate sourcing strategies.
• Strong Project Management skills required; demonstrated experience with project management methodologies that deliver cost savings.
• Ability to identify and solve cost, contractual, process and operational business challenges; experience negotiating with EMS/ODM suppliers
• Experience with benchmarking costs to drive cost reduction opportunities, business process improvement opportunities, and negotiations strategies.
• Strong analytic skills with the ability to synthesize complex data sets. Financially articulate and able to present businesses cases to influence stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Some Asia travel required.
• Mandarin speaking a plus
