The position is in the Dependability Research Lab of Intel Labs, located in Munich, Germany.
We are looking for a candidate for a temporary position either as working student, intern, or to work on a master's thesis. Ideally, you are currently pursuing a master's degree on a relevant academic institute and want to strengthen your skill set in GPU programming and AI/ML safety in autonomous systems. Together with the research team, you will work on evaluating and extending existing safe GPU compute techniques for application in AI-based safety-critical systems.
Tasks
Together with the team, you will:
study and understand the state-of-the-art techniques to enable safe compute on modern COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) GPUs
implement and evaluate selected methods for representative GPU kernel implementations (e.g., for matrix multiplication)
evaluate the kernel implementations for complex AI/ML tasks deployed in safety-critical autonomous systems
create a prototype/demo to showcase the developed safe GPU compute techniques
Qualifications
The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:
Pursuing studies in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or other related fields
Good background in GPU programming and performance profiling
Good background in AI/ML methods, especially DNNs and their evaluation
Programming skills in OpenCL, Python, C/C++
Knowledge about safety in autonomous systems (e.g., automated driving, robotics) advantageous
Excellent English is a must, German knowledge advantageous
Please note that in order to be eligible for this position you need to be enrolled in a university program.

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
