Job Description

Purpose of Job

To ensure compliance with Safety and Security manual, IKEA Rules and guidelines in accordance to local authorities. 

To be a valued business partner that drives for sustainable solutions, improve the profit for the unit in balance with IKEAs intended level of Safety & Security.

Assignment:

Safety & Security:

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for ALL site co-workers through training, audits, inspections and follow up. This also includes that all safety and security systems are fully functional at all times to meet IKEA standards and country specific legal demands
  • Meet IKEAs intended level of Safety & Security by achieving positive results during Safety and Security review and all other reviews (Insurance, Country specifics…)
  • Co-ordinate with the unit Crisis Management Team and management for the handling of any emergency cases and provide appropriate actions according to the IKEA Crisis Management Plan
  • Complete incident reporting and logging into Incident Reporting System monthly analysis of incidents trends, reporting to management and departments of trends, investigation of cause of trends
  • Maximize the units profit by working for less operational surprises through managing insurance reports and claims, reducing fraud, securing and protecting IKEA assets
  • Provide support for investigation of internal and external incidents and recommending resolution and revision of routines as necessary
  • Work in partnership with the Management Team regarding sensitive issues, including but not limited to, harassment, co-worker misconduct, information security and lawsuits
  • Work together with the Global Risk and Compliance team to ensure IKEA standards, Risk Management frameworks as well as legal demands are followed
  • Secure that unit level of protection and regulations are in accordance with applicable health, safety, fire prevention, security and investigation standards
  • Identify and mitigate health, safety & security risks using the Risk Management Process for running business
  • Communicate, create awareness, coach and ensure that co-worker trainings meet both IKEA's and local intended levels of health, safety & security
  • Build strong relationships across the unit(s) in order to understand and support the needs from functions, core businesses and be a competent and trusted business partner.
  • Conduct checks & reviews on health, safety & security

Sustainability:

  • Lead the Sustainability agenda for the DU based on the Category Distribution & Sustainability direction and the respective goal
  • Be the Sustainability partner for unit management and follow up and report the DU Sustainability results to them
  • Proactively support and advice business teams on sustainability related topics. Act as an ambassador for IKEA values and a role model for fact based business leadership
  • Share and develop sustainability knowledge and competence throughout the unit by inspiring and empowering co-workers
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Sustainability agenda in Category Distributions
  • Lead the development of common working methods for the Sustainability matrix
  • Actively follow external developments and networks to challenge ways of working in the unit
  • Maintain DU IWAY compliance according to the IWAY working methods for Category Distributions

Qualifications

Requirement:

  • University degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environment or other relevant area
  • Minimun 5 years of related working experience 
  • Competent person registered with DOSH.
  • Well-verse with all relevant local requirements related to environment, safety & security
  • Knowledge of leading a sustainability agenda
  • Knowledge of relevant Safety & Security processes, tools and working methods according to work focus
  • Ability to work independely with strong sense of urgency 
  • Good communication skills, able to speak and write in local language.

Additional Information

This assignment will be based at IKEA Supply (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd at our new Distribution Centre in Pulau Indah, Port Klang, Malaysia.
