Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Systems & Services (EESS) Division is currently seeking a Sales Application Engineer- Modular Solutions to join our team. This position can be located at our Raleigh, NC location or can be based remotely from a home office. This position will report to the Modular Solutions Program Manager. This position will be both the sales and technical lead for assigned opportunities during proposal stage as well as during the engineering design phase of a customer order. As this is a Lead position, the candidate should demonstrate strong technical and commercial aptitude to be able to rise into the Modular Solutions Program Manager role, and if needed, on an interim basis. Position Overview: Interpret project specifications and provide a detailed specification response, including assisting Sales with technical proposals/bid packages Create proposals for projects and provide input to Pricing Approvals and Deal Strategy Reviews for projects that meet the criteria (e.g. order value, complexity) Be a liaison for the Modular Solutions business to customers, both internal and external Interface with vendors and purchasing team on requesting quotes. Develop vendor requirements as part of RFQ to vendors. Review pricing and technical response of vendors to ensure scope of supply is well defined and adequately addressed in bid In the absence of firm customer specifications or design, be able to perform engineering system design for customized modular solutions to include medium voltage assemblies, power transformers, substation products, protective relays, switchboards, and other electrical infrastructure equipment as required to meet basic customer requirements Develop and improve test plans and inspection check sheets to ensure quality of final delivered solution. Provide oversight and direction for testing and inspections both at the factory, at integrators, and at customer sites as needed Ability to present training and/or guidance to customers on the operation and maintenance of the supplied modular solution Interface with Project Execution team for system applications and order summary informatio Lead technical presentations and development of new specifications with customer technical staff Evaluate processes and provide leadership to improve systems within Modular Solutions in collaboration with OPEX, Modular team, and other resources as necessary Lead the technical execution of assigned projects in partnership with the assigned Project Manager for project hand-off and technical support during the project Contribute to Modular Solutions product management roadmap Contribute feedback on form, fit, function of proposed designs in design reviews Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with Electrical Experience. 7 years of related electrical industry experience Must meet access requirements for government facilities. Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Sales experience or experience translating customer requirements into solutions Experience with proposal development in all of Eaton's end markets (Industrial, Commercial, Data Center, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional and Government). Experience with specifying equipment and specification document creation. Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and subcontractor agreements; being able to evaluate subcontractor proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management. Experience with estimating electrical components and installation. Experience with systems software such as Bid Manager, Vista, Oracle, SAP, SharePoint, and Qlikview. Experience with field service and/or construction sites where electrical equipment is being maintained or installed Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Moderate knowledge of Eaton’s BidMan tools Position Criteria: Strong focus on the customer Self-starter, accountable Results driven Strong experience to deliver technical solutions to customers. The annual salary range for this role is $98,400 - $135,300 a year. Eligible for an annual performance-based incentive plan with a target at 15% of base salary.
