Sales Category Manager (Target) – Minneapolis, MN

This role will be an anchor of Analytical Support to the Target Sales Team..   The Sales Category Manager is expected to help identify strategic opportunities that will drive growth for category, Target, and Mars Wrigley.   Utilizing insights, this role will also be responsible for the Business Analytics across the Target sales team including Forecasting, Budget, JBP Planning, DSRM Planning.

Reporting to the Target Sales Director- this role is part of the Target Sales Team organization.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in Sales or Category Management
  • 1-2 years of business analytics experience
  • Experience in CPG and/or retail w/ Large National Retailer – Target Preferred
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working with syndicated data software (i.e., IRI or Nielsen)
  • Experience with forecasting & Analytics
  • Strong Experience working with Microsoft Office programs specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • The Ability to Travel 10% of the Time
  • Successful completion of a drug and background screen

Nice to Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales or Category Management
  • 2+ year of business analytics experience
  • Target Experience
  • Experience in project development and partnering with large strategic retail customers
  • Shopper Insights knowledge
  • Dcomm Experience, Financial/P&L Management

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Support Seasonal or Nonseasonal with critical Business & Category analytics against key focus areas: Weekly Reporting, New Item Performance, Promo and Pricing Analysis/Recommendation, Competitive Analysis, etc
  • Leverage Insights and support Customer Business Leader in bringing new Category solutions to Target including shopper and category insights across: products/ assortment, shelving and merchandising, pricing promotions and seasonal merchandising
  • Provide insights that influence Sales Strategy across Seasonal/Everyday business, including help with development of all Line Reviews & Annual Planning meetings with Target
  • Own critical processes to include DSRM Planning, IBP Forecasting, JBP Planning with Target and Budget
  • Partner with CBL and Internal Digital Center of Acceleration to identify opportunities to accelerate Mars Wrigley Dcomm business at Target
  • Collaborate with Cross Functional partners including Shopper Marketing, Customer Marketing, Category Leadership, to drive strategic opportunities within MW business at Target
  • Partner with CBL and SRM to drive profitable growth and improve P&L through optimized promo/pricing plans
  • Partner in development/tracking/analyzing  JBP with Target that delivers against Margin and Sales objectives.
