Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development of strategic market/product line business plans and programs to support sales and market development in designated market segments typically for new or early life-cycle products/ventures. This include, but not limited to, customer/product/supplier identification, market analysis, product definition, positioning and pricing, as well as leading, developing and executing programs designed to support sales, communicate customer value proposition and increase market share.

The candidate has an in-depth understanding of the market, technical expertise and is committed to deliver financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing chemical and focus accounts and generating growth revenue in Singapore.
  • Responsible for achieving both financial and market successes
  • Manage sales execution while partnering with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercial strategies, i.e. product positioning, go-to-market strategy and communication to direct and indirect sales channels sales force on a regular basis.
  • Accountable for meeting sales targets, performing sales forecasts and conducting ongoing evaluation of both sales channel partners and sales channel efficiencies
  • Through team and individual selling efforts, the individual is responsible to develop and execute opportunity to improve penetration into identified strategic accounts
  • Able to work very closely with broader functional teams, as well as management levels, to leverage and develop key partners and customer relationships
  • Is responsible for efficient implementation and execution of adapted global and local strategies at all levels
  • Collaborate and work with local teams to drive sales activities and opportunities identified by sales leadership teams to meet or exceed organic growth targets and revenue goals.
  • Manage processes and structures to drive growth, find and capture large opportunities.
  • Deliver forecasts accurately and financial commitments.
  • Proactively develop and execute on opportunity funnels to improve penetration into potential and identified strategic accounts via both team and individual selling efforts.
  • Provide comprehensive information on all activities to Sales leaders and/or Sales Representatives
  • Leverage available resources to effectively implement company marketing plan, strategies and sales processes, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities and Key Performance Indicators

  • Lead, develop and manage all business development activities of the chemicals and focus account
  • Drives the growth of revenue and market share by expanding in current key accounts and capturing in adjacent markets in Singapore, monitoring and analyzing market trends, identifying new/adjacent potential markets, etc.
  • Support and participate in development and execution phrases of annual strategic planning process
  • Recommend and implement tactical plans and programs for the achievement of sales goals
  • Establish the targeted numbers of focus accounts at assigned territories for the new business
  • Ensure achievement of sales targets through successful execution and monitoring.
  • Be responsible for identifying and selecting the right channel partners to execute the go-to-market strategy in Singapore for chemicals business
  • Liaise and coordinate with marketing team to ensure maximum market segment penetration in Singapore
  • Drive continuous improvements in the operations related to chemical and focus account
  • Develop key collaborations across other Thermo Fisher Scientific Divisions to enhance the customer experience
  • Work with sales support teams, including but not limited to Commercial Operations, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Finance and Human Resource teams to develop and ensure effective business support practices and strategies for the chemicals and focus account in Singapore
  • Participate in scientific conferences, tradeshows and related field support activities to gain/share latest market trends and opportunities, to share identify potential customers and partners, etc.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Life Science/ Biochemistry/ Chemistry or any Science related disciplines
  • Minimum 4 - 5 years of relevant sales experience with good working knowledge of science industry segments such as Life, Environmental, Industrial, Healthcare, and Diagnostics
  • Ability to identify new target accounts each year and be able to develop and execute territory plans.
  • Experienced in channel management and large key account is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of the sales process (lead generation, quoting, purchasing, revenue recognition) as well as highly competent in forecast management
  • Possess Confidence and tolerance to collaborate up, down, and sideways as needed
  • Able to manage a fast-paced business
  • Requires excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and be self motivated.
