Eaton’s North American Sales Division is currently seeking a Sales Engineer, Utility to join our team. This position is based at our Grapevine, TX location. Position Overview: The primary function of the Sales Engineer – G&T role will be to support management, outside sales engineers and internal/external customers in providing effective solutions to challenging technical and service problems for the G&T in the utility vertical. The primary functions include but are not limited to identifying G&T opportunities in assigned territory, closing orders based upon expertise developed in selling skills and technical knowledge, selling abilities to position Eaton Electrical into preferred position in market and customer activity, providing technical knowledge regarding products/services, negotiating & pricing projects. This role also supports sales of assigned product lines to targeted customers in designated geography with the objective of optimizing sales volume, product mix, and profit margin. The sales engineer provides technical product support for distributors and other duties that may be assigned by the sales leader. In this function you will: Work with outside sales team to identify new opportunities and priorities at Utility G&T facilities in assigned territory Establish contact with and maintain ongoing cultivation of target utilities/facilities Review and interpret customer needs on plans and specifications. Determine the minimum bill of material, most competitive price level and shipment cycle within the market segment pertaining to each specific negotiation Explain Eaton’s product documentation to specifying engineers and electrical contractors to guarantee correct product application and installation Offer a technical resource to customer service and other internal departments Interface with business units/product lines, secure quotes and price ancillary equipment Support direct sales team through technical assistance, pricing strategy, competitive review, installation and service information Create submittals as required for large standard projects, in support of direct sales Deliver quotes to Eaton sales, Eaton sales partners and customers Participate in scope review meetings and other pre-sales discussions with customers as required Proactively facilitate timely solutions to customer issues by utilizing available resources or creating procedures for resolution Project manage small to medium projects on as needed basis Establish and maintain commercial relations with present and potential customers (internal and external) by effectively employing the highest level of skills about the art of salesmanship, application engineering, product knowledge, knowledge of customers business and organization and knowledge of Eaton product lines strategic plans for sales growth When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum one (1) year of work experience No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution Prior outside sales or business development experience Prior knowledge of utility segment Knowledge of BidManager and Vista Position Criteria: Electrical industry experience Sales and/or marketing experience Organization and project management Ability to work in a team-oriented environment Strong communication skills Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of different organizational levels Strong technical aptitude Ability to travel up to 50% We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
