GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sales Manager is a member of the CMMAG Leadership Team. As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the General Sales Manager with oversight of the Sales Consultant Team, leading them in the development of long-term relationships with customers and challenging them with aggressive sales goals. You will also serve as a well-informed advisor on vehicle selection, performance, accessories, safety, features and functions, and financing options for all new and used vehicles in order to promote an exceptional customer experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Assists General Sales Manager with directing the daily operations of the Sales Department.
  • Hires, trains, coaches/counsels and monitors performance of all Sales Team members, setting specific and measurable goals.
  • Inspires and maintains a customer-focused, team oriented environment.
  • Uses appropriate coaching methods to move others to action and to strengthen performance and skills in areas needed.
  • Sets high standards of performance for self and Sales Team, assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and/or goals.
  • Directs sales staffing and training in a manner that enhances Sales Team members’ development and the control of sales.
  • Leads by example, ensuring that Team Members adhere to policies and procedures and complete required training
  • Performs vehicle trade-in appraisal for prospective customers and completes negotiation worksheets in a timely and efficient manner in order to encourage a prompt sale.
  • Builds rapport with prospective customers in a manner that encourages customer loyalty.
  • Assists Sales Team members with all necessary paperwork related to the sale and assists customers with legal documents.
  • Monitors Sales Team members’ ongoing communication/relationship building with customers in order to encourage networking and repeat business.
  • Serves as backup to the Finance Department.
  • Displays, merchandises, and promotes new and used vehicle inventory.
  • Strives to meet or exceed factory standards for customer satisfaction (CSI,SSI).
  • Utilizes contact management system to aide sales team members.
  • Resolves customer complaints and/or concerns and by offering fair and consistent solutions, while following company policies and procedures.
  • Works hours scheduled, and maintains flexibility as situations arise.
  • Stays informed of industry trends, all manufacturer programs, and rebates in order to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Participates in professional training opportunities through in house, factory training seminars, and weekly in store sales meetings in order to enhance sales skills and professional development and ensure Sales Team Members achieve and maintain factory certification.
  • Reports any mechanical or cosmetic problems with new and used vehicles in order to maintain a clean and well presented inventory.
  • Works effectively with others by valuing and practicing teamwork at all times and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and follows all policies and procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Sales Manager works primarily in a professional office environment, however may occasionally perform work outside, in any temperature and/or weather situations. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. This will require the employee to sit and use hands and arms for typing, touching and reaching. Work outside the showroom/office requires the employee to be active, occasionally walking short distances. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 50lbs.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position working approximately 40-50 hours per week, including Saturdays. More hours may be required to complete sales and meet sales goals.

TRAVEL

Travel is required for this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent – AND – Previous sales and/or management experience.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a background investigation to include criminal history record check and driver’s license check.

Valid Maine Driver’s License.
