Detailed Description:
Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate employees performing diverse roles within the Sales organization. Accountable for projects or programs on a regional basis. Work is guided by general policies and department objectives. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and develops the strategies and tactics to accomplish those goals. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals may result in the loss of revenues and may have a significant financial impact on the region or profitability of the account. Provides direct supervision to others, or indirect through subordinate supervisors, and coordinates the activities of a section or department with responsibility for sales results. Reviews employees’ performance and recommends employee compensation; coaches for improved performance and disciplines as necessary. Makes recommendations for subordinate’s salary and performance ratings. Builds cross-functional relationships where persuasive skills and considerable tact are required to gain support. Interacts regularly with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers. Maintains positive relationships with key customers, etc., who have a significant impact on the success of the organization.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Manages and coaches 2 or more direct reports which are Consultant 1 level or higher. Maintains a minimum revenue accountability (a personal sales quota – not a team quota) equivalent to at least US$2M in value-add. Normally paired with a Business Development team member to form an account team. Primary sales interface on a regional or customer unit basis for one or more accounts. Identifies influencers and key decision makers within the account. Establishes and maintains close relationship with the key decision makers. Facilitates Sr. Management relationships with Customers. Gains competitive intelligence. Manages customer perceptions and the overall customer relationship process. Develops account strategies in conjunction with BD team members and executes tactics. Investigates potential new opportunities within the account or region. Acts as the customer advocate to ensure that the organization remains customer-focused. Ensures that the Customer Relationship Highground principles are followed in managing the accounts and that the team keeps their account plans up to date. Manages/coaches/mentors direct reports. Delivers quotations and RFQ responses to customers.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
  • Extremely strong communication, interpersonal, relationship management and professional sales skills.
  • Strong reporting skills as well as time and priority management skills.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Strong team management skills and high level of ability to work with others as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Some electronics knowledge/background is essential.
  • Knowledge and experience in the sales of Services (as opposed to Products) is critical.
  • HR/team management skills necessary to manage a team of direct reports.
    Physical Demands:
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Overnight travel may be required
    Typical Experience:
  • Eleven to Fourteen years of applicable sales experience.
    Typical Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
