How will you make an impact?
The Sales Manager, qPCR Consumable Sales Specialists - East leader will be part of the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG) and the Genetic Science Division (GSD), reporting to the Senior Director in North America. He or she will oversee a team of 6-8 Technical Sales Specialists (TSS) and will work collaboratively with various commercial, marketing, and business unit teams to achieve annual sales targets.

This leader will further develop and lead sales strategy for the qPCR Consumable Specialist team in the East region. He or she will work closely with the West qPCR Consumable TSS leader and the Genetic Analysis Solution Sales leaders in the region to ensure strategic alignment and consistency in implementation and execution. This leader will also collaborate with the Platform leaders and marketing colleagues to develop and adjust plans and go to market strategies in line with the division’s overall business plans.

What will you do?

  • Manage the qPCR Consumable Sales Specialists teams, leading business processes and managing the resources associated with the quantitative PCR (qPCR) consumable business plan achievement.
  • Implement sales strategy and tactics with the West qPCR Consumable Specialist team in line with the division’s overall business plan.
  • Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of product, markets and customer buying practices required to effectively compete in the qPCR Consumable market and grow the business.
  • Understand the market and identify opportunities for future growth, being considered an expert and a key influencer to commercial leaders to meaningfully impact our commercial strategy, execution and/or decision-making.
  • Develop the team of qPCR Consumable Sales Specialist professionals. Attract and empower the right talent and drive employee engagement, helping to build a reputation of best place to work.
  • Communicate a clearly to motivate and enhance performance from the team.
  • Deliver an accurate quarterly forecast, being accountable to the division management and coordinated with the GSD commercial teams overlapping in the region.
  • Collaborate effectively with partners across Thermo Fisher to obtain sponsorship and support, resolve issues and expedite selling. Expand internal networks, contacts and relationships to drive qPCR Consumable selling effectiveness across the region.
How will you get here?
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Bio Sciences. A Master’s or PhD degree is desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful field sales experience.
  • Experience managing a commercial team, with a successful track record of managing and growing a sales organization preferred.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of qPCR technology, applications and market.
  • Sales experience in the life Science/Genetic Analysis capital equipment market selling to Academic, Government and Clinical customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a large and complex organization in a biotech industry preferred.
  • Strong personal character coupled with an intense focus on the customer, a broad business acumen and intellect, plus vital competencies essential to navigating complex and dynamic market conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify commercial opportunities and develop aggressive and innovative sales strategies to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Ability to think clearly and critically, articulate a vision, and inspire others to follow.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills; ability to assimilate complex concepts and clearly articulate business value.
  • Travel: ~50%
  • Remote Office (Flexible on Location in the east region).
