Are you interested in a role that would help save and sustain lives?  Are you a self-driven individual looking for a challenge and career growth?  If so, Baxter’s Nutrition franchise can offer that, and more.  We are looking for a Nutrition Specialist located in either Saskatchewan or Manitoba  that will drive sustainable, long-term sales growth with existing and new customers, build long term relationships and create a pipeline of opportunities in their designated territory. This individual will work cross-functionally with marketing, quality, regulatory and other teams and will develop in conjunction with Baxter’s Blueprint. The Nutrition Specialist will need to have the complex knowledge required to effectively communicate with doctors, dieticians, and other medical staff and must possess the confidence to demonstratatce subject matter expertise of the product and therapy. Through a consultative sales approach, this individual will provide solutions regarding the products and therapy that will help to increase physician’s awareness around the importance of Clinical Nutrition and its significance as an element of a patient’s therapeutic regimen.

Essential Duties

  •  Plans, organizes and manages territory and sales activities in order to achieve sales targets.
  • Leverages and implements Marketing strategy and identifies opportunities within targets.
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing to identify, analyze and implement new methods and techniques to determine sales growth
  • Is the subject matter expert in Baxter’s Nutrition products, services, programs, and therapies and provides customers relevant information and solutions through the use of clinical tools and resources.
  • Applies product and market expertise to promote a high-degree of awareness and early adoption of Baxter’s Nutrition products
  • Handles customer complaints and promotes positive relationships with customers
  • Evaluates market demand and works to meet customers needs and expectations
  • Executes the sales POA (Plan of Action)
  • Leads contracting cycle as required and provides relevant customer information.
  • Effectively utilizes sales and marketing tools including Miller Heiman Strategic Selling,  Opportunity Management System in Sales Force.com, etc.

Customer relationship and Territory Management:

  • Business Unit Profile and Marketing corporate tasks and forecast, maintaining pipeline and planning growth (managing pipeline)
    • Accountable for building and maintaining long term relationships with key therapeutic customers to develop Sales Opportunities
    • Ensure Long Term maintenance of the business through expert support
  • Problem solve and own customer issues, while ensuring all parties and team members are kept informed of relevant information and resolution, in order to enhance customer loyalty and revenue generation.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive practices to better position Baxter to win.
  • Provide feedback and keep in close communication with Sales Management/Marketing around customer needs, sales objections, competitive advantage levers and competitor’s activities and information.
  • Identify in which market segment customer belongs and execute appropriate sales and marketing tactics as per sales POA 
  • Ability to quickly develop solid business relationships in Key Accounts in the territory
  • Self-motivated with the ability and desire to close business quickly

Key Targets by Therapeutic Specialist

  • Surgeons (those specializing in abdominal or thoracic surgery), Dieticians (only those that manage Clinical Nutrition in the various therapeutic areas eg. Surgery, GI, ICU, Oncology, etc) Gastroenterologists, Intensivists, Oncologists, Pharmacy,

Timely and efficient completion of administrative tasks:

  • Expense reports, internal and external communication, conferences etc.
  • Market intelligence: market surveys, communicate competitor intelligence

Maintain product / therapy expertise:

  • Training and self-directed learning
  • Responsible for self-directed maintenance of product and therapy expertise
  • Attend company training and utilization of clinical resources to enhance knowledge and learning.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and conventions as required.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience

Education Level

Required:

  • Registered Nurse or Dietician with an undergraduate degree in respective areas or health related field or University Degree in Sciences

Preferred:

  • Experience with Clinical Nutrition in Surgery, ICU, GI
  • Or Health Sciences

Major Subjects / Specialties

Required:

  • Health Sciences

Preferred:

  • In specialty field

Type of Experience

Required:

  • Specialty therapeutic sales experience or hospital sales experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in a matrixed selling environment

Years of Experience

Required:

  • 5-7 years of sales experience and/or experience in the related field

Preferred:

  •  Hospital sales experience
  • Experience in the related field
