The systems administrator will be responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of the commercial training business systems.   This will involve managing requests from local country users, troubleshooting issues they raise and supporting them in best practice use of the systems.  The candidate will also be expected to undertake an active role in projects run by the Global Training Systems team with the opportunity to take the lead in some.   Examples of potential projects include migration to and roll-out of new systems, improving user functionality and implementation of new processes for the training business.  They will quickly gain in-depth knowledge of the systems and have an understanding of how these support the global BSI Training strategy.  They will need to work closely with other technical teams and end users in the country offices.   

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Assist and support countries in the use of the systems - identifying effective solutions to issues and logging resolutions through the support system
  • Conduct regular system checks to maintain data integrity– including the monitoring of system emails
  • Support countries in best practise use of the system – providing training where necessary
  • Preparation and upload of data
  • Act as key point of contact regarding systems if the Global Training Systems Manager is not available
  • Write and maintain system documentation, process maps and work instructions
  • Work with team to ensure effective testing is completed for system changes and projects
  • Ensure that all issues concerning any system or project are raised with the appropriate management and all risks identified are proactively dealt with
  • Lead assigned systems projects for the training business through the project lifecycle - gathering and documenting requirements, preparing SOWs where necessary, conducting UAT and supporting implementation
  • To have a comprehensive understanding of the BSI Training systems and their capabilities
  • Interface with all BSI divisions and staff in every BSI office at every level
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders from end users to senior managers, along with Group IT and systems staff in all divisions
  • To be a proactive and constructive member of the BSI Training Global Team

This role sits within the Global Training Systems Team, part of the Global Training Team, whose function is to support the local country offices in managing their commercial training businesses.   The candidate will be reporting into Head of Global Training Systems, working alongside 3 other administrators.   The team work very closely together to help support the countries who are using the systems we manage.  Working knowledge of Salesforce is fundamental to this role. 

To be successful in this role, you’ll have proven system administration skills and have worked with business systems or databases.  Experience of working with the Salesforce.com platform is essential.  You will be able to show you can adapt to new business systems with ease.

The ideal candidate will have a “can-do” attitude, be proactive in detecting potential issues with the systems and their usage and identify potential areas of improvement.

You’ll be working closely with people from all levels within the organisation across locations globally, so excellent communication skills are a must along with the ability to work on own initiative to strict deadlines.

  • Organised, efficient and methodical in approach, with high attention to detail
  • Proven problem solving abilities, able to act quickly, dissect the issue and provide a logical solution
  • Strong IT skills – MS Office Suite, in particular intermediate/advanced Excel use
  • Strong team member; enjoys working as part of a team and prepared to contribute when required
  • Ability to write and maintain system documentation, process maps and work instructions
