School Counsellor (Required for August 2020)

• Provide confidential counselling for students as individuals and groups;
• Maintain and monitor effective referral mechanisms, both for teachers and students;
• Liaise with student development staff to ensure effective flow of information;
• Work with colleagues in Learning Support Team as required;
• Develop and maintain relationships with government, external organisations and community support services

Requirements

• Recognized Degree in social, counselling, or other relevant disciplines.
• Professional registration with a recognized body. Minimum four years post-qualification practice with young people, preferably in a school setting.
• Fluent in English and Cantonese.
• Willingness to maintain professional competency through professional development and networking.
• A sound understanding of, and ability to work within, an existing social worker’s code of ethics.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people and institutions, including teachers, parents, students, associated professionals, government agencies, and NGOs.
• Sound understanding of relevant policies and procedures and the role of external agencies, and the ability to refer to them when required.
