Job Description
Position Title: Librarian
Location: Suzhou, Jiangsu
Start Date: Fall 2026
Reports to: Vice Principal (Academics)
School type: Bilibgual school(IGCSE&IBDP);The students are of junior high and high school age.
Position Overview:
The Librarian serves as a vital link between people, services, and information at the school, guiding discovery both within and beyond the curriculum. As a faculty member, the Librarian helps foster a unique, student-centered learning environment that supports the mission of uniting people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future through education.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the development, acquisition, cataloging, and circulation of library collections to support a diverse, multilingual, university-preparatory program.
Curate and promote reading recommendations for the school community.
Develop and oversee the annual library budget for collections and facility needs.
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate research skills and academic integrity into the curriculum.
Lead initiatives to promote digital literacy, responsible information use, and copyright awareness.
Plan and deliver library programs and events that encourage reading, inquiry, and community engagement.
Supervise and support library staff, volunteers, and student assistants.
Contribute to the school’s advisory and residential programs, supporting students’ academic and personal growth.
Participate in co-curricular programs and special school events as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science or higher preferred; candidates with significant library experience and other credentials are also welcome.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a library school setting.
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
Familiarity with library systems, digital tools, and information literacy instruction.
Ability to work flexibly in a bilingual, residential school community.
