AstraZeneca’s Finance function is on a transformation journey with the objective of delivering excellence in financial operations and insight. A new operating model is being developed for AZ Finance, which includes the establishment of Integrated Finance Solutions in in Warsaw, Poland.
As a Senior Finance Analyst FP&A you will play an essential role in supporting the Finance Lead in the delivery of the team objectives. This includes supporting the new team, building knowledge and driving the culture within IFS. You may be required to use your expertise to lead or contribute to special projects across IFS, coaching and mentoring of analysts within the team and be required to work closely with your Finance Lead to deliver timely and accurate reporting, provision of quality financial analysis and insightful commentaries to the business including reporting for the RBU/ABU, and to develop and improve those same processes over time. You will be the subject matter expert and point of escalation for your team and support them in both their day to day activities and personal development.
Your core deliverables will include:
Reporting, Planning & Forecasting
- Providing robust, quality month end financial information to business teams
- Provide challenge to forecasts to ensure these are based on sound planning assumptions & resource decisions are prioritised & optimised across the business area
- Deliver adequate financial input & analysis to support individuals and teams to make effective business decisions
- Working closely with senior business stakeholders providing analytical and strategic support
Other role requirements
- Assist in better business decisions by provision of financial expertise and insightful analysis to all ad hoc queries in line with SLA, and provide support to on-going projects.
- Ensure corporate governance standards are met, taking accountability for effective operation of relevant financial reporting controls.
- Ensure information is provided on time and within required quality (accurately).
- Identify opportunities for standardisation and improvements across the process area on a continual basis.
- Manage the team of 2-3 people.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
Experience of finance and accounting is required. Self-motivation and a commitment to team work are key. Personal development will be a key part of the role and you will be supported to develop yourself and your skills whilst in the role.
- A recognised finance or accounting qualification
- 5+ years accounting /FP&A experience where applicable
- Use of general office and financial systems for budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Cross boundary experience including building relationships remotely and cross-culturally
- Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams
- English Language proficiency, both verbal and written, with the confidence to express clear opinions and ability to explain financial issues to non-financial management
- Accounting fundamentals – understands the basic principles of accounting (eg accruals; cost centres; budgeting)
- Excellent PC skills including SAP, BW & Excel skills
Desirable
- Part qualified finance professional, or working towards a recognised financial qualification.
- Proficiency in the use of SAP
- Experience of working in Pharmaceutical industry
- Team Supervisory/people management experience
