Amgen is seeking a Scientific Business Analyst to join our Global Research IS team. Research IS partners with Research to develop innovative technology & data solutions to support the discovery and development of therapeutics. We are looking for an Analyst with a versatile skillset, including technical acuity and excellent learning agility with the ability to lead discussions on scientific challenges requiring technical solutions. The Analyst will use a combination of scientific expertise, problem-solving skills, and client engagement skills to drive business strategies to successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Drive, sustain and advance digital capabilities for drug discovery research.

• Contribute to the creation of informatics solutions in support of research initiatives across domains of therapeutic discovery & design.

• Conduct business analysis to implement or enhance drug discovery informatics platforms by partnering with scientific business teams.

• Ensure effective communication between scientists, technical staff, and vendors to analyze business requirements and implement technology & data solutions.

• Be an active member of agile product teams, translate research needs into a prioritized backlog of actionable user stories, with a focus on continuous integration and continuous delivery.

• Evaluate and utilize cutting-edge technologies in the industry to meet business needs.

• Provide technical support & training for Amgen’s drug discovery research software platforms.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree 

OR Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience 

OR Associate’s degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience 

OR High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or Engineering.

• 2+ years of Business Analysis experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

• Experience translating business requirements to technical requirements.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge of drug discovery research.

• Experience with scientific information systems and data analysis.

• Familiarity with R, Python or SQL.

• Experience supporting solutions deployed in the Cloud (e.g., AWS).
