DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
Scientific Officer (Ref. 20051912-E)
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) operate, maintain, repair and calibrate scientific and engineering equipment and software;
(b) train users on the use of such equipment and software;
(c) manage research and teaching laboratories in the Department;
(d) undertake research and consultancy under supervision;
(e) assist in supervising final year project students;
(f) assist research personnel in the operation of equipment;
(g) maintain the assigned laboratories in good condition and comply with the laboratory safety and chemical disposal regulations; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree, preferably a higher degree, in Science or/and Engineering disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant experience;
(b) experience in research and engineering project development, preferably in the fields of materials processing or advanced manufacturing technologies;
(c) experience in chemical and radiation safety;
(d) good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(e) good proficiency in English and Chinese.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
