Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (SRA) Head – Part-time 22.5 hours per week
Maidenhead 


Salary: £ 54.000 - £ 67.000 (+ bonus & benefits)


As Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Head you will create and sustain a competitive advantage for Mars Drinks and Treats; supporting the achievement of our business goals by leading our SRA strategy related to regulatory affairs in Europe and Middle East. You will lead a variety of regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, labelling, claims and packaging.


What are we looking for?

  • A highly knowledgeable individual who has a proven track record of leveraging their technical expertise to deliver business goals in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment 
  • A great communicator, who enjoys sharing their knowledge to upskill and coach others
  • Master's degree in a technical area, such as food chemistry, nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, toxicology, or pharmacology (or at least a Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields)   
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in scientific and/or regulatory compliance/affairs and/or a related technical area with food products or related product categories (such as food supplements, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and natural health products) with proficiency in food law, nutrition policy, and regulatory affairs for Europe and Middle East  
  • Experience working on large-scale regulatory compliance or regulatory affairs projects involving formulas, ingredients, and labelling; a demonstrated track record of working successfully across functions to achieve shared goals; and proven ability to interact cross-functionally at all levels within the organization are required. 

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Accountable for providing regulatory and strategic guidance to relevant internal partners on existing, new, and emerging regulations of interest to the Mars Drinks and Treats business
  • Maintains up to date knowledge on key developments in food law and policy via literature reviews, conference attendance, and participation in professional association activities so that the potential impact to Mars Drinks and Treats can be addressed
  • Driven from the complexity and impact of Brexit, this role is also responsible for keeping abreast of changes in official controls and understand the impact to the running of our business
  • Provides leadership for compliance activities for Mars Drinks and Treats to ensure adherence to internal compliance processes and practices, and continuously reviews and improves these processes and procedures; Has accountability for assuring ingredients, formulas, labelling, and packaging are in full compliance with laws and regulations in the UK, Europe, Middle East, and all other markets we sell in.
  • Has responsibility for assuring claims are in full compliance with laws and regulations in the countries they are made and sold
  • Develops SRA positions regarding the safety and acceptability of products and ingredients, and leads activities to ensure both the continued use of ingredients and gain approval for new ingredients used in our products
