We have an excellent opportunity to join our Global R&D function based in Slough. We are looking for a Product Scientist that will be responsible for the design, development, and translation of chocolate formulations in support of Quality, Innovation and Efficiency in accordance with the global chocolate business strategy.
With the technical know-how and experience to define and execute a portfolio of complex projects, looking at new perspectives to solve existing and new brand solutions within the area of chocolate, our ideal candidate will possess a high drive, excellent ability to build networks and relationships and have a creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Science in a technical area including engineering, chemistry, or food science is required (Masters or PhD preferred)
- Hands on experience in the development and successful launch of new products, packages and processes.
- An advanced understanding of the key scientific elements associated with food systems and ingredient/process interaction
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and programs whilst having excellent influencing, leading and organisational skills.
- Ability to travel globally and work outside of core hours to connect with other Global sites.
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Responsible for leading chocolate development activities and is accountable for the execution of the allocated programs and work streams to bring project through to commercialisation
- Ensures that the developed product meets regulatory requirements, brand Quality Attributes, project timelines and cost.
- Ensures that Product quality and Manufacturing quality measures are met and any corrective actions are specified for each new and current chocolate product to ensure performance at the required level
- Works with other members of the Science and Technology teams to help develop technology and research strategies that will deliver competitive value and design thinking to deliver new and novel innovation for products and factories
- Be the technical contact for chocolate globally whilst remaining up to date with latest developments in ingredients, food technologies, category trends and related fields
- Global travel (to up 30%) will be required, which could include significant international travel. Associate also needs to be available by phone beyond day shift for communication with other Global sites
