Scientist, Clinical Biomarkers and Diagnostics, Cell-Based Platforms (Flow Cytometry and IHC)
The Department of Clinical Biomarkers & Diagnostics at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to perform clinical biomarker assays employing a variety of platforms to support our drug development efforts.

The candidate will be an integral member of a dynamic group of scientists and platform specialists. The candidate will collaborate with scientists representing multiple therapeutic areas, and work closely with groups in other functional areas. The successful candidate is expected to employ a wide variety of platforms including Immunohistochemistry and multiparametric flow cytometry in our biomarker laboratory to develop and qualify biomarker assays to support various clinical programs. Specific responsibilities associated with the job include independent thinking, choosing the appropriate platform, planning and performing laboratory experiments, documenting experimental protocols and results, analyzing and interpreting data, communicating results to the stakeholders and working with internal and external partners.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate Degree or Doctorate degree by September 2021
OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in biomarker assay development and qualification.
Previous experience working in a matrixed environment to execute cell-based (flow cytometry and IHC) assay development and validation to support clinical trials.
Project management skills to meet critical timelines associated with various activities necessary to support biomarker assessment of clinical samples.
Demonstrated track record of critical independent thinking and troubleshooting ability.
Ability to multi-task and lead multiple studies, strong verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of motivation, creativity and collaborative qualities.
Must be able to work and coordinate with internal stakeholders as well as external partners such as CROs and vendors to support outsourced activities.
Familiarity with processes and factors needed to evaluate, qualify and lead CROs.
A strong background in multiparametric flow cytometry assays including immunophenotyping and immune based functional assays is required for this position.
Experience with complex data analysis software for flow cytometry such as FlowJo, FCS Express, SPADE, viSNE and CITRUS.
Knowledge of IHC assays and IHC image analysis software such as HALO is a preferred.
