Integrated Diagnostic Systems (IDS) is seeking an R&D Scientist I responsible for performing bench microbiology experiments.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works under the general direction of a Sr. Scientist, Staff Scientist or R&D Manager.
- Works primarily as part of a team, to schedule and perform a variety of laboratory experiments.
- Accurately records experimental results and may present those results to other R&D team members.
- Drafts and reviews appropriate documentation as needed.
- May partner with R&D colleagues, and associates from other departments, on project tasks, platform support, and other activities if required.
- May assist in technical problem resolution.
- Strives to remain current with the field and related technology developments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in microbiology, medical technology or a related field.
- Minimum of less than two years of microbiology experience.
- Strong laboratory skills, particularly aseptic techniques, micro-pipetting, handling pathogenic organisms, and specimens, including blood.
- Proficiency with commercial computer software applications (spreadsheets, databases, word processing, etc.).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical writing experience (validation protocols, white papers, etc.) is desirable.
- Experience in product testing and validation studies is highly desirable
- Action-oriented team player that works well with other scientists
