Integrated Diagnostic Systems (IDS) is seeking an R&D Scientist I responsible for performing bench microbiology experiments.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works under the general direction of a Sr. Scientist, Staff Scientist or R&D Manager.
  • Works primarily as part of a team, to schedule and perform a variety of laboratory experiments.
  • Accurately records experimental results and may present those results to other R&D team members.
  • Drafts and reviews appropriate documentation as needed.
  • May partner with R&D colleagues, and associates from other departments, on project tasks, platform support, and other activities if required.
  • May assist in technical problem resolution.
  • Strives to remain current with the field and related technology developments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in microbiology, medical technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of less than two years of microbiology experience.
  • Strong laboratory skills, particularly aseptic techniques, micro-pipetting, handling pathogenic organisms, and specimens, including blood.
  • Proficiency with commercial computer software applications (spreadsheets, databases, word processing, etc.).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical writing experience (validation protocols, white papers, etc.) is desirable.
  • Experience in product testing and validation studies is highly desirable
  • Action-oriented team player that works well with other scientists
