YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist I, are to: 

 

  • Execute protocols associated with trace quantitative analysis of active ingredient volatility and qualitative assessment of plant symptomology;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work with team and partners to manage and schedule experiments;
  • Have primary or shared project responsibility of a complex nature;
  • Conduct research and contribute to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property or trade secrets;
  • Manage laboratory supplies and instrument maintenance;
  • Provide training to contingent workforce, maintaining detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Solve complex problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning and the application of scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments;
  • Lead workflow optimization and method validation projects using multiple data sources;
  • Use specialized knowledge, the broad application of scientific principles, current literature when identifying and implementing process improvements;
  • Collaborate with partners in formulation technology and computational life sciences to develop digital solutions for experimental scheduling, data storage and retrieval;
  • Prepare and report data to research partners in timely manner;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Design and analyze the results of experiments independently;
  • Perform a variety of experiments across various molecules/product types;
  • Communicate and interpret the results of experiments and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Take initiative in keeping current with literature in areas of assignment and in areas of professional interest.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. with at least five years relevant experience OR M.S. with at least two years of relevant experience OR Ph.D. with at least one year of relevant experience;
  • Strong analytical / physical chemistry acumen with the ability to independently execute experiments and analyze data;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be able to spend extended periods on feet and capable of lifting 20 lbs.;
  • Experience with ISO/Quality Management Systems and defining and using Key Performance Indicators to measure lab and workflow health.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with liquid chromatography;
  • Experience with trace quantitation using mass spectrometry;
  • Experience with statistical analysis and visualization software;
  • Experience working inter-disciplinary research.
