The Scientist I, Molecular Biology will be based in Guangzhou, China. He/she will take part in verification and validation (V&V), transfer validation and benchmarking of molecular assays, instrument systems and consumables with the emphasis on molecular biology and sample prep methods. Projects will include both research use only (RUO) and in vitro diagnostics (IVD) products for Chinese market. The new hire will be primarily based in laboratory and as such, will have strong experience in Molecular Biological techniques and be comfortable in this environment. The successful applicant is required to exhibit a results oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in the fast paced environment of biotechnology. The Scientist I will possess good practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid extraction.

What will you do?

• Participates V&V activities for instrumentation, consumables and reagents based on PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis and other molecular biology methods.
• Performs benchmarking studies for competitors’ and collaborators’ products.
• Executes molecular biology experiments independently and performs accurate record keeping.
• Accurately follows protocols and proposes improvements of existing test methods.
• Assists senior members of the team in complex experimentation planning and execution.
• Analyses simple data sets independently.
• Adheres to internal policies and procedures, as well as external quality standards.

How will you get here?

I. Education

• Required -Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar.

II. Experience

• Experience working in biotechnology industry will be an advantage.
• Extensive hands on experience with common molecular biology, such as qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis.

III. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• English language proficiency at level enough to read and understand protocols and user manuals.
• Possess excellent laboratory and documentation practices.
• Self-motivated, results oriented individual who is able to execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
