How will you make an impact?
Incoming scientist will be responsible for development of tools and techniques to support Cell and Gene Therapy Platforms.

What will you do?
This scientist will be expected to work in a highly collaborative team environment, leading some projects independently and others with some supervision of a senior scientist. Projects may include, but not be limited to, developing gene delivery platforms and reagents, improving gene editing and delivery efficiencies across various mammalian host cell types, recombinant DNA cloning and developing integrated workflows for cell and gene therapy applications. Optimizing gene delivery reagents and protocols for genome and cell engineering applications in several cell lines
Cell analysis including standard cell viability assays and flow cytometry
Provide promptly analyze assay results utilizing statistical analysis tools
Maintain detailed and organized notebook and experiment write-ups
Present data and findings to peers and managers
Prioritize work across multiple projects

Work independently in a fast-paced environment
How will you get here?
Education/Experience

 
  • The ideal candidate will possess a B.S degree with 2-3 years relevant experience or M.S. degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably within Molecular and Cell Biology fields
  • Prior experience with Cell and Gene therapy platforms is a plus
  • Development of gene delivery reagents (viral and non-viral) and platforms
  • Mammalian cell culture (experience with broad cell lines including primary T cells and stem cells is preferred)
  • Transfection and transduction
  • Optimizing gene delivery reagents and protocols for genome and cell engineering applications in several cell lines

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Cell biology techniques:
    • Cell Culture: working with challenging cell types including primary cells
    • Transfection, electroporation and transduction
    • Cell analysis: flow cytometry
  • Molecular biology techniques:
    • Recombinant plasmid DNA cloning including complicated design and cloning of DNA constructs
    • DNA and RNA preparations, PCR, qPCR, sequencing
    • Western blots
  • Gene delivery platform and reagent development
  • Prior genome engineering (CRISPR or TALEN) experience a plus
  • Observe deviations from the expected outcomes and trouble-shoot
  • Succeed with a moderate level of supervision and guidance
  • Participate in a strong teamwork orientation with demonstrable influence/interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a detailed lab notebook and present your findings in a group setting
  • Understand stringency of timelines by being tenacious, decisive, nimble and quick
