How will you make an impact?
 
Using standard operating procedures (SOP) and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), the Scientist II manufactures products and completes associated documentation. Works with chemicals and biologicals to manufacture material for IVD use. Participates in process improvement projects.
 
What will you do?
  • Produces and purifies antibodies using cGMPs.
  • Performs analytical and functional testing of antibodies.
  • Performs associated procedures using mice and in-vitro equipment.
  • Reviews in-process and completed batch records.
  • Maintains and analyzes lot histories for trends and discrepancies.
  • Initiates process improvement projects such as updating processes and/or equipment to improve efficiencies and support business needs.
  • Trains other chemists on equipment and procedures.
  • Writes, reviews and modifies SOPs, work instructions and reports.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and validates equipment as appropriate.
How will you get here?
Education:
  • Applicants should have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of laboratory experience. Experience can be derived from internships or positions held post-graduation.
  • Hands on experience with HPLC and/or bioprocess equipment desired
  • Enzyme immunoassay reagent optimization experience is a plus.
  • Particle chemistry experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Strong lab skills and knowledge of safety precautions.
  • Experienced in working with potentially hazardous chemicals and human source materials.
  • Familiarity with Quality System Regulations: cGMP/GDP, ISO and IVD regulations in the performance of department responsibilities.
  • Individual must work well in a team environment and be adaptable to changes in priorities.
  • Self-motivated, independent and strong critical thinking.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented to be able to prioritize own and other’s work and meet business productivity metrics.
  • Intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software skills with excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Manual dexterity. Must be able to lift 25 lbs routinely. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
