Job Description
How Will You Make an Impact?
 
The Scientist II, Microbiology is a 2 year contract role and will take a role in development for internal new product introductions (NPI). This position requires the candidate to support projects related to infectious disease diagnostic development. This includes establish and maintain microbiology facility in ISO13485 certified lab, as well as product testing. The candidate will provide technical expertise on a project level and will be expected to integrate into a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant is required to exhibit results-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in the fast paced environment of biotechnology.
 
The Scientist II will possess the technical capacity to develop microbial culturing methods, design and perform experiments, analyze data set and write protocols and reports. Successful candidate will possess good practical knowledge of microbiology techniques. Experience with molecular techniques (such as qPCR and PCR) and in vitro diagnostics assays would be a plus.
 
 
What will you do?
 
·         Culture, maintain and quantify microorganisms for projects.
·         Able to perform viral plaque assay, TCID50 and CFU count for viral and bacterial enumeration.
·         Able to perform routine tasks with knowledge of sterile microbiological techniques, basic safety procedures in BSL2 lab and proper storage and handling of microorganisms.
·         Support testing and optimizing molecular biology portion of the diagnostic assays workflow.
·         Design and execute experiments independently, troubleshoot, analyze data, interpret results and keep a detailed record of experiments.
·         Write procedures, protocols and reports.
·         Exercise independent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
·         Recommend and execute changes to processes, procedures or products internally to the department.
·         Possesses strong computer skills and can manage and analyze data sets.
·         May lead training and guidance of junior team members.
 
 
 
 
How will you get here?
 
I.        Education
 
Required -Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or similar (at upper second class level) with 4 years of experience or Master’s degree with 2-3 years’ experience, or Ph.D fresh graduate
 
II.        Experience
·         Adheres to policies and procedures following research and development scientific standards
 
III.        Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
·         Knowledge of IVD process for MDx and experienced at working at ISO:13485
