Job Description

The Department of Oncology and Inflammation Research is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to investigate mechanisms of immune mediated pathogenesis in cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, and to discover and develop innovative therapies to treat these diseases.

The candidate will independently lead a laboratory group as well as project teams to discover and validate new therapeutic targets. The candidate will also collaborate with other research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences and Computational Biology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cutting-edge research that integrates human genetics, immunology and oncology.
  • Develop novel therapies by using various innovative technologies and approaches.
  • Publish experimental findings in top-tier Journals and present novel findings at national and international conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- PhD or MD, with postdoctoral training and research experience in the fields of immunology, oncology, cancer immunotherapy, molecular biology or human genetics.

- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in the areas of immunology or oncology as demonstrated by high impact publications.

- Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Multi-color flow cytometry, complex in vitro primary cell models, cell signaling/biochemistry, in vivo mouse models of disease

- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate and troubleshoot to solve problems.
