What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. . In this vital role you will design and implement in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies in support of small molecule discovery research and clinical development.

The department of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism (PKDM) within Amgen is dedicated to the discovery and development of safe and effective medicines by elucidating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion (ADME) and pharmacokinetic properties of novel therapeutic drug candidates to improve their pharmacological potential.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support in vitro and in vivo small molecule ADME characterization as well as pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analysis.

  • Develop and employ LC-MS-based bioanalytical methods for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of small molecules.

  • Interpret and communicate research results to PKDM project team representatives in support of drug discovery and clinical development.

  • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, electronic laboratory notebook keeping, and communication of results to cross-functional project teams.

Basic qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of analysis of small molecules

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience mentioned above

Beyond that, additional Preferred Qualifications are:

  • Strong background preferred in the use of biophysical, biochemical, and cell-based analytical methods to interrogate molecular attributes, including drug-target interactions that potentially influence their plasma pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution.

  • Experience with molecular pharmacology techniques, primary hepatocyte cell culture, and in vivo PK models is highly desired.

  • Experience with operation, troubleshooting, and data interpretation of LC-MS is required.
