Live
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will contribute strong scientific and organization skills, and cardiovascular pharmacology knowledge to advance novel therapeutics into clinical testing.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Scientist to join the Safety & Exploratory Pharmacology (SEP) functional group, which is part of the Translational & Safety Pharmacology Research organization at Amgen. The SEP team contributes directly to drug discovery and development through interactions with many Amgen Research groups (Discovery, PKDM, Toxicology, Clinical, etc.). The team delivers actionable datasets sourced from the SEP lab and from external lab partnerships (contract research organizations (CRO), academia, vendors) to support new drug development. This position reports to the SEP leader.
- The candidate will have a primary focus on utilization of non-rodent models to evaluate cardiovascular safety profile of proprietary drug candidates across many therapeutic areas, however utilization of other safety pharmacology models (conventional and new) is expected.
- An additional focus will be development of novel experimental and data analysis strategies (e.g., PK/PD modeling, computational methods, statistics, etc.) to assess and improve the translational value of nonclinical cardiovascular safety data.
- Technical responsibilities include designing experiments, interpretation of findings, integration of relevant data (secondary pharmacology, PK, etc.), and the analysis of preclinical/clinical datasets to address safety questions.
- Knowledge and experience with software/analysis platforms (e.g., R for statistical computing) is ideal.
- The ideal candidate must be science-based, team-oriented, and have effective interpersonal skills to build and foster relationships with diverse colleagues.
- Effective communication (especially writing) and collaboration skills with stakeholders (internal scientific staff, veterinary staff, project teams, CRO partners, etc.) are essential to success in our team environment.
- Growth expectations include the potential to manage staff and build scientific eminence (e.g., represent Amgen at conferences) including publications.
