Job Description
The role:

We’re embarking on an exciting journey in our technology and digital strategy at AIA NZ and are looking for a Scrum Team Lead to ensure out team members communicate, coordinate, and collaborate to meet their delivery goals.

  • Responsible for the identification and validation of the project problem and/or the solution alternative

  • Collaborates with Product Owners to define goals and prioritisation of releases/iterations via the use of agile inceptions

  • Work with Project Managers to ensure successful delivery of projects

  • Ensure releases are well planned, structured and estimated using agile techniques

  • Identifies and proactively resolves, and/or escalates, issues in a timely fashion

  • Drives the fundamentals of iterative development, incremental delivery, value metrics, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and velocity and task definition

  • Track iteration progress (day-to-day work), report and remove obstacles, obtain clarifications and make sure iterations commitment will be fulfilled, point out blockers in the delivery process

  • Facilitates sprint retrospectives, and showcases

  • For the overall project, build a team environment with people working together towards common goal (they succeed or fail together)

  • Focuses on team morale, encourages an enjoyable working atmosphere and tracks team satisfaction

  • Act as a buffer and protects team from distractions. Manage and guide requirements in order to prevent continually changing requirements

  • Identifies resources the team will need to successfully deliver a project (i.e. people, tools and environments) and ensure the team understands their roles, responsibilities, & commitments within the iteration.

  • Tracks capacity of team by noting vacations, paid time off, etc.

  • Management of assigned project Vendor resources and relationships

  • Provides ongoing education and support of Product Owners and other key stakeholders to the Agile delivery process

  • Manages identified activities for production deployment(s) and handover to Support

About you:

  • You’ll be a collaborative and engaging Scrum Leader who values being in a business that is committed to diversity and inclusion and will relish being able to foster this culture (see some of our success here)

  • An Agile certification is desirable

  • Demonstrated success delivering projects using Agile techniques

  • Strong experience in project management or delivery management or as an Agile coach, Iteration Manager or Senior Business Analyst

  • Experience working across multiple domains within a customer-focussed team

  • Proven ability to manage resources, dependencies, scope, and risks using Agile

  • Proven people leadership experience

  • Proven success in working with and across Business and IT Delivery Teams to deliver effective and cost efficient technology based solutions

  • Experienced in Vendor Management and selection

  • Tertiary qualification in IT/computer Science or business related discipline
